Dear Customer,

Finnish Transport Worker’s union AKT has announced a two-week strike. The strike starts on Monday 11. March 2024 at 06:00 and ends on Monday 25. March 2024 at 06:00. The strike stops container pickup and delivery in all Finnish ports, and it covers all stevedoring operations, including unloading, loading, receipt and release of units. The terminals work normally.

Please be prepared for delays in all modes of transport to/from Finland. The delays will probably continue even after the strike, until the congestion in the ports can be relieved.

We try to react according to the situation and can offer alternative routes and solutions for transport.

For urgent shipments, we are offering LEMAN Express courier solutions.

Road freight:

According to the current information, domestic pick-ups and deliveries for LTL are mainly carried out normally.

The ferry service will mostly operate as normal, only the loose trailer traffic will have minor schedule changes, because the loose trailer carriers cannot be unloaded/loaded during the strike.

For any inquiries or further information, please feel free to reach out to your LEMAN contact directly.

Air freight:

During the strike there will be no delay effects on arriving or departing air freight cargo by air to/from Finland either shipment leaving/arriving by air truck during the strike, which all are operated by driver’s unit. Possible delays should be prepared and may occur. We follow what appears frequently.

The strike has no effect on the operation of LEMAN's air freight department. We work normally and do our best to arrange and minimize the impact of a strike for our customers.

For any inquiries or further information, please feel free to reach out to your LEMAN contact directly.

Sea freight:

The industrial strike actions affect stevedoring operations in every sea port in Finland. The scope of the strike includes all port operations in Finnish ports, including unloading and loading operations, receipt and release of units.

After the end of the strike, congestion in ports and delays in deliveries can be expected. Regarding LCL service, it is possible to organize alternative options for export sea freight, although possible additional costs can be expected. Our own operations are working normally and looking for alternative routing and solutions where available.

For any inquiries or further information, please feel free to reach out to your LEMAN contact directly.

Against the challenges caused by the strike, we believe that our own operations will remain unchanged. We are doing everything we can to minimize the impact of the strike on our customers.

We appreciate everyone's understanding, and we apologize for the inconvenience this may be causing our customers.
